UMARNA studies civilisation as an interdependent system in which education, governance, economy, habitat, health, culture, technology and the built environment continually affect one another. Technologies alter the scale and speed of knowledge; cultural systems preserve observations that can disappear when languages, places or communities are lost. These relationships are part of the subject itself.
The institute uses the idea of a larger organism as a structural model: distinct centres with their own functions, linked through a connective architecture. The twelve Research Fields establish this stable map; Current Development Clusters gather selected Fields around work in progress; the corpus, maps and shared research tools allow findings to move across the structure without dissolving their origin or context.
Significant knowledge often sits in fragments — a manuscript, a site, a cultivation practice, a material technique, a physiological observation, a cosmology. UMARNA organizes and cross-references these records across time and place so that relationships can be examined at different scales. The past supplies evidence, memory and precedent; the future provides a test of what may still deserve to be useful.

Archaeoacoustics, Reverse Engineering, Atemporal Machines
Investigates monumental and sacred environments as integrated physical, technical and human systems. Work can bring geometry, materials, acoustics, environmental conditions, movement and physiological response into the same study, using archaeological evidence alongside measurement, reconstruction and contemporary sensing.
Cosmologies, Cosmogonies, Cultural Heritage
Studies points of convergence between ancient records, cultural transmission and contemporary inquiry. Comparative studies on myth, symbols, hieroglyphs, oral and written history, language, calendrical systems, archaeological evidence and the study of perception and technologies.
Bioregional Networks, Land Intelligence, Visionary Hubs
Develops place-based models in which settlement, land, resource circulation, economics and collective organisation are considered together. The work can become a masterplan, field laboratory or prototype for a territory, testing how different parts of a system affect its long-term viability.
Game Theory, Recreational Systems, Dormant Abilities Activation
Develops research on learning environments, models or instruments for attention, perception, imagination, game theory and cognitive development. Pioneering proposals for education, home schooling, nature as a teacher, curated research on alternative reality games, contemplative and creative expression, values, emotional intelligence, embodied learning and neuroscience.
Geosophia, Celestial Alignments, Ecosystemic Data Processing
Creates the planetary layer: geophysical and ecological sensing, celestial alignment, spatial data and cross-field analysis that place local findings within larger Earth and astronomical contexts. The cluster connects the other working constellations at planetary scale.
